At the Nvidia AI Summit 2024 in Mumbai, Jensen Huang, CEO and founder of Nvidia, emphasized the growing importance of India in the global computer and AI industries. During his speech, Huang projected that India will witness a 20-fold increase in compute capacities in 2024, highlighting the country’s shift from a software production hub to a future powerhouse for AI exportation.

India’s Crucial Role in the Global Tech Ecosystem

Huang remarked that India holds a central role in the global IT landscape. He stated, “India is very, very dear to the world’s computer industry, central to the IT industry, and the core of every major company’s operations.” The CEO also mentioned that Nvidia’s presence and ecosystem in India are set to expand significantly as part of this growth trajectory.

For decades, India has been known for exporting software, but Huang foresees a transformative shift. As AI continues to evolve, India is poised to transition from being a “back office” for software development to becoming a major exporter of AI solutions. “The next generation will be about producing and delivering AI, which will be even more impactful,” Huang stressed.
